Federal lawmaker and newly defected All Progressives Congress (APC) member, Oluwole Oke, has described the APC governorship ticket in Osun State as “a hot cake,” as political activity intensifies ahead of the 2026 election.

Oke, a multiple-term member of the House of Representatives who recently left the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the APC, made the remark on Saturday, June 21, 2025.

He expressed strong confidence that the APC would reclaim Osun in the upcoming poll in a social media narrative.

“It’s certain APC will win. I can now understand why APC’s gubernatorial ticket has become a hot cake. Both members of APC and those aspiring to be are busy chasing this ticket,” he said.

Adeleke

Oke’s statement reflects growing internal excitement within the APC as the party prepares to challenge incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke of the PDP, who is seeking re-election. Adeleke won the seat in 2022 by a narrow margin, defeating then-Governor Gboyega Oyetola of the APC in a closely fought contest.

Since joining the APC, Oke has become one of the party’s most visible voices in the state, mobilising support and participating actively in its grassroots activities. His move has further fueled momentum around the APC, with increased interest in the party’s governorship ticket as aspirants and party loyalists position themselves ahead of the primary.

Political observers say the buildup suggests the 2026 governorship race may be even more competitive than the last. For now, APC’s internal politics is heating up — and with Wole Oke’s declaration, it is clear that confidence is running high within the party ranks.
