Emerging details revealed that it is now dangerous to walk on the streets of Ogun state, especially the major roads without face masks.

Societynow.ng gathered that this development is in the face of great risk of arrest.

Sources disclosed that law enforcers are increasingly swooping on people without face masks.

Compulsory use of face masks, especially in public places is one of the safe keeping measures stipulated by the state government – just like other states – in the fight against Covid-19,

Those who should know disclosed that impromptu arrests of people without face masks in public places are being carried out to force compliance.

Societynow.ng gathered that the state capital Abeokuta and industrial hub Sango-Ota are most affected by these arrests.

“Other parts of Ogun state are experiencing same thing because the arrests are based on a directive from the office of the Governor” societynow.ng learned.

The arrests started last week after a memo was issued to government workers notifying them that anybody that reports to work without using face mask will be arrested and prosecuted.

“The arrests are carried out indiscriminately, whether you are in public bus or walking on the streets or even riding the popular commercial motorcycle called Okada…the offenders are in most cases fined and ordered to use a face mask” societynow.ng learned.
