Insiders say touting former Governor Akinwunmi Ambode as a replacement for late Bayo Osinowo alias Pepperito in the Senate is ‘’political masturbation’’.

Ambode, the immediate past Governor of Lagos State is nowhere near the options under consideration societynow.ng learned.

The former Governor infamously limited to a single term in office over acrimonious fallout with the powers that be in the politics of Lagos State has hugged the shadows since he left power.

He has an investigation by anti-graft agency Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for alleged corruption hanging on his neck and was forced to embrace legal action to stall a similar prove by the Lagos State House of Assembly.

‘’Ambode is still battling underground to be left alone to enjoy the gains of his time a single-term governor of Lagos State, posturing as a possible candidate for the position of Senate in Lagos State at this point is a fallacy’’ a source stated.

‘’Even the formidable GAC (Governor’s Advisory Council) that he is automatically qualified to be a part of as a former Governor, Ambode does not have the heart to come out of the shadows to take it up its membership not to talk of rallying support to become a Senator’’ another source pointed out.

Multiple sources believe that ‘’ putting his name out concerning the vacant Senatorial seat of Lagos is just an attempt to make him trend, keep him in the mind of the public.’’

Societynow.ng, however, learned that this move is counterproductive for Ambode, because it plays him up as more popular than he is giving his political adversaries reason(s) to keep working to make him ‘’irrelevant’’.
