“Why I Am Very Sure I Want To Be Governor Of Ogun State” – Segun Odegbami

Ex-international, Patrick Olusegun Odegbami has confirmed rumors of interest in becoming the Governor of Ogun state.

The Super Eagles legend insists he is very sure about his ambition and why he wants to become the Governor of Ogun state.

Odegbami from Abeokuta Ogun state made the revelation in a recent write up about the ouster of Nigeria from the ongoing World Cup.

He claims talks of his ambition is already exciting “many people”.

Odegbami specifically revealed “Now more than ever before I know for sure why I want to contest for the office of governor of my State. The thought of a Footballer in government house excites many who have heard the rumor here.

It will surely attract all manner of reactions back in my State. The one thing I believe is that politics in the most sophisticated environment in Nigeria, for all things progressive, may never be the same again. I am looking forward to the challenge in faith and with hope”.

The 65years old was however silent on his political party of choice and whether his ambition is to succeed outgoing Governor Ibikunle Amosun or the latter’s successor.

Credited with “motivational talks” that gave the Super Eagles performance at the world cup strong wind, Odegbami – should he officially declare his ambition – would be one of the major underdogs of the highly competitive Ogun state gubernatorial contest.
