Why I Am Proud Of President Tinubu — Otega Ogra
was quick to highlight what, in his eyes, sets Tinubu apart
In the early hours of June 1, 2025, Otega Ogra, the Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Digital Engagement, Strategy, and New Media, took to X (formerly Twitter) to share his profound reflections on the transformative journey of the Tinubu administration and his deep sense of pride in the President’s achievements so far.
Ogra’s post followed a milestone event on Saturday, May 31, 2025, when President Bola Tinubu commissioned the completed 30km section of the legacy Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway—an engineering marvel that not only tamed the Atlantic’s surges but also stands as a testament to Nigeria’s renewed infrastructure ambition.

The commissioning was part of a broader rollout of projects across the North-West, South-East, North-Central, South-South, North-East, and South-West, including the flagging off of new roads nationwide.
“I sat and watched our President and my Principal, President Bola Tinubu, commission the completed 30km section of the legacy Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway as well as other major projects,” Ogra recounted with pride. “I thought, ‘All these in just two years, yet some to see?’ Many thought it couldn’t be done. Many knew it could, but some doubted our resolve and/or capacity.”

For Ogra, the day’s significance was more than ceremonial. He marveled at the sheer scale and technical ingenuity of the project, sharing his excitement about the documentary that detailed the engineering feats accomplished: excavation works plunging 25 meters deep, intricate materials mixes, and landfilling of up to 3 meters—all executed with novel equipment in a round-the-clock construction effort. The Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, designed with a 50-year lifespan, now stands as a symbol of Nigeria’s bold new era.
Ogra’s reflections were deeply personal, tracing his journey from a beneficiary of President Tinubu’s education legacy as a student at the Lagos State Model College, Kankon, to his current role as one of Tinubu’s trusted aides. “I attended the full-boarding Lagos State Model College, Kankon, paying school fees of just N3,500 and N6,500, with water supply, electricity, and free SSCE exams,” he wrote, recalling his own experience of the Tinubu touch in education. “Quick Fact: I barely missed the top spot at Madam First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu’s Spelling Bee Competition. I bawled my eyes out from Ikeja to Badagry in the school bus at what I believed was unfair treatment,” he recounted with a humorous nod to his teenage self.

Now, standing beside the man who once tamed the ocean surge in Lagos, Ogra declared with conviction: “I can confidently and unashamedly say I have come full circle as I now serve under the man who I believe is Nigeria’s boldest, most decisive, and strong-willed President ever—one who intends to bequeath a lasting legacy of a prosperous Nigeria built on strong foundations and fundamentals.”
Ogra was quick to highlight what, in his eyes, sets Tinubu apart: his unwavering work ethic and his unshakable love for Nigeria. “PBAT’s vision is clear, his heart is full of love for his country, and his resolve is unshaken,” he wrote. “I must say that President Tinubu’s work ethic puts even me, who am considered a workaholic, to shame. You keep up or go out. Nigeria will definitely succeed.”

He credited the President’s leadership for rekindling investor confidence and restoring Nigeria’s dignity on the global stage. “The investors are back. Sanity has returned. Our respect is gradually returning. Local problems are being solved with long-term solutions. There is no more kicking the can down the road for anyone else to inherit,” Ogra stated, underlining Tinubu’s commitment to sustainable progress.
Concluding his heartfelt tribute, Ogra offered a prayer for the President’s strength and continued leadership: “May the Almighty bless, strengthen and keep you—he who leads and is destined for great things—the Asiwaju of Nigeria, Jagaban, Dike Si Mba, Aare Ago, Otuekong, Dakari, my boss, and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of The Federal Republic of Nigeria—President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR—Focused. Fearless. Far-Sighted!”
As the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway officially opens its first completed section to the public, Ogra’s narrative is more than a social media post—it is a window into the hearts of those who believe in the promise of a new Nigeria under President Tinubu’s watch.
