Why Abiodun Is Darling Of Ogun Council Chairmen

Governor of Ogun state Dapo Abiodun has become the darling of virtually all the council chairmen in Ogun state.

And the reason for this is not far-fetched.

The end of the tenures of the 20 local government chairmen is at hand and they want either an extension (as caretaker chairmen) or the opportunity to secure a second term in office as candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for another term.

Insiders say the council chairmen have started courting the Governor and those close to him as part of efforts to “remain in office”.

“So at present, the Governor is the beloved of the council chairmen” is the word across the political divides in Ogun state.

Their council chairmen’s tenure ends in July 2024. And they are lobbying hard to ensure that they secure a block approval from the Governor to stay in office according to those in the know.
