‘’We Would Ensure The Full Weight Of Law Runs Its Course’’ Obaseki Promises To Get Justice For Uniben Student Raped & Abandoned For Dead Inside Redeemed Church

‘’I am deeply saddened by the news of the death of Miss Vera Uwaila Omozuwa. We have been in consultation with the Edo State Command of the Nigeria Police Force and have mandated thorough investigation of the matter to ensure that those who are responsible for this heinous crime are brought to justice.’’ Governor of Edo State Godwin Obaseki stated in his reaction to the death of the University of Benin undergraduate.

The 100- level Microbiology student was severely beaten, raped and murdered – left for dead but briefly regained consciousness at the University of Benin to narrate her ordeal before giving up the ghost as a result of the injuries sustained – by yet to be identified men at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Edo Province 10, Ikpoba Hill, Benin where she went to read. 

Reacting further to the tragedy which is attracting widespread demand for justice far and wide, Obaseki who used the tag ‘’ #JusticeforUwa’’ stated further

‘’We would ensure that the full weight of the law run its course. We will take advantage of the Violence Against Persons (VAP) Law and other such laws related to rape and sexual abuse to get justice for late Miss Vera Uwaila Omozuwa..’’
