The demise of Adewunmi Oriyomi Onanuga has hit him hard.
Onanuga, the Deputy Chief Whip of the Federal House of Representatives, popularly known as Ijaya, passed away after a brief illness on Wednesday, January 15, 2025.
The federal lawmaker, who represented Sagamu, Ikenne, and Remo North Federal Constituencies, was a strong ally of Governor Abiodun.
The Governor’s devastation over Ijaya’s demise was evident during a condolence visit to her family on Thursday, January 18, 2025.
It took all his manly restraint to hold back a flood of tears.
A video from the condolence visit to Sagamu showed that when the Governor declared his “profound shock and sorrow over this devastating loss,” he was not playing to the gallery.
The late federal lawmaker, whom Abiodun described as “a loyal and dependable ally,” represented her constituency with dedication at the House of Representatives.
