Wealth creator, Tony Elumelu has revealed his next big plan.

The game changer described by the Presidency as an “ingenious business leader” in a goodwill birthday message made the revelation on Friday, March 22, 2024.

Elumelu was 61 years old on Friday and celebrated with the announcement of 1,400 beneficiaries of the 10th annual Tony Elumelu Foundation’s non-refundable grant and mentorship program in Lagos.

Founded in 2010, the Tony Elumelu Foundation (TEF) has groomed about 20,000 entrepreneurs across Africa, created  400,000 jobs, and generated an estimated $2.5 billion in revenue since funding started in 2015.

The information available revealed that this year’s edition – the 10th edition – was supposed to be the curtain drawer on one of the major moves to eradicate poverty in Africa according to the initial plan but, Elumelu who committed $100million family money to kick-start the program says something bigger is on the way.

In announcing the next big thing, Elumelu disclosed “We are thinking of launching a global Coalition to prioritize young Africans, in Europe after the second world war a marshal plan was put in place to help develop Europe. In this 21st century, we want to see our own marshal plan, not a marshal plan but a coalition for African entrepreneurs to help touch more lives, to help democratize luck, and to help create further prosperity on our continent.”

TEF was created to empower a new generation of African entrepreneurs who would help in no small measure to revolutionize Africa’s economic – and social landscape – across ten years in a bold move to eradicate poverty.

Friday’s announcement of the 10th Tony Elumelu Foundation Cohort fulfills the pledge along with impressive records of 20,000 entrepreneurs established across Africa,  400,000 jobs created, and an estimated $2.5 billion in revenue generated since 2015 but, Elumelu, the champion across different sectors of the economy, who co-founded the foundation with his wife, Awele has declared a coalition that would make a greater impact is on the way.
