Two very strong loyalist of heavy weight politician, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu are at war.

They are Governor of Osun state, Rauf Aregbesola and Cardinal James Odumbaku.

Information at the disposal of www.societynowng.com attribute the cause of the raging battle between the two members of Asiwaju’s inner caucus as ‘fight for influence’

Before he became the Governor of Osun state, Aregbosola was very influetial both in and out of the goverment in Lagos state- based on his special relationship with political leader, Tinubu. Many favours were secured from Tinubu based on his recommendations or contributions. Odumbaku enjoyed the same privilege but on another level. They were said to be close to certain extent, pooling influences to achieve common goal until recently.

Odumbaku is however said to be irked by the fact that even after Aregbesola became the governor of Osun state he wants to continue the trend.

‘He cant be running Lagos from Osun state. How can he even run the state effectively when spends time dabbling into the matters of another state’Odumbaku was said to have wondered to friends.

In other to wittle down Aregbesola’s infleunce and show all who is incharge- the Cardinal is said to have initiated well orchestrated opposition to what is labelled Aregebsola’s interferrance in affairs of Lagos state.

Favours determined to have the backings of Aregbesola were mined and worked on to be turned down.

Sources claimed that it wasn’t long before the Osun Governor got wind of what was on and traced it to the Cardinal. That others were as well hiding behind his influence to nipple at his ( Aregbesola’s) power base.

A fierce cold war was said to have ensued between the duo.

It just blew open for all to see with the recent nomination and confirmation of political appointees in the newly cosntituted Lagos state goverment cabinet.

The exercise that is said to determine who wields what influence in Lagos state reportedly saw quick a chunk of aspirants that relied on Aregebesola’s patronage lossing out.

The most pronounced was the case of Rotimi Agunsoye. His case was said to be the one that determined who was on the winning and lossing streak.

Agunsoye an immediate past commissioner in the state was screened out of contention in the current dispensation amongst other things for his overly robust relationship with Aregbesola.

It is instructive to note that most of the other members of the Tinubu inner caucus -and followers out of it -have sympathy for the cause Cardinal Odumbaku is fighting against Governor Aregbesola and not necessarily for the advocator.
