described Governor Sanwo-Olu as a steadfast public servant and a worthy protégé
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended heartfelt congratulations to the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, on the occasion of his 60th birthday, marked today, June 25, 2025.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu described Governor Sanwo-Olu as a steadfast public servant and a worthy protégé whose leadership reflects the vision and legacy of continuity in Lagos State’s development.
Sanwo-Olu, the sixth democratically elected Governor of Lagos State, began his political journey under the mentorship of President Tinubu.
Over the years, he has served in various key positions, including Managing Director/CEO of the Lagos State Property Development Corporation and Commissioner in three strategic ministries — Economic Planning and Budget; Commerce and Industry; and Establishments, Training and Pensions.
The President praised Governor Sanwo-Olu’s commitment to advancing the development blueprint first laid out during Tinubu’s administration as governor of Lagos between 1999 and 2007.
“Your execution of this vision is exemplified by landmark achievements, including completing the Blue and Red Rail lines and the ongoing preparations for the Purple Line, which will serve the vital Lekki corridor,” the President stated.
Encouraging the governor to sustain the pace of infrastructure development in the state, President Tinubu urged Sanwo-Olu to prioritise other high-impact projects, particularly the long-awaited Fourth Mainland Bridge and the Freedom Way–Victoria Garden City (VGC) Road.
President Tinubu concluded his message with wishes for good health, long life, and continued service to the people of Lagos State and Nigeria at large.
