President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Sunday marked his 74th birthday in a low-key manner, reaffirming his administration’s resolve to overcome current challenges and deliver a more prosperous Nigeria.

In a message to Nigerians, the President expressed gratitude for the goodwill and support he has received, describing his leadership journey as one driven by service and collective sacrifice.

“Today, as I clock another year on the journey of life, I’m filled with joy and gratitude for the opportunity to serve this great nation,” he said, thanking citizens for their “messages, show of love and prayers.”

The Nigerian leader also acknowledged those who celebrated him through media platforms, stating, “To those who have taken space in newspapers or paid for air time on radio and television to wish me well, I thank you immensely.”

The President extended appreciation to the First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, and Vice President Kashim Shettima for their support and kind words.

Explaining his subdued celebration, he said, “Consistent with my tradition of marking my birthday in line with the mood of the nation, I resolved to observe this year’s birthday in a low-key manner.”

Reflecting on ongoing reforms, President Tinubu admitted the country has faced difficulties but noted signs of progress.

“Our sacrifices have not been in vain, as we can see a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel,” he said, citing the impact of global pressures, including the Middle East crisis.

The nation’s number one citizen stressed that recent gains are collective: “The credit… does not belong solely to me… We achieved the gains together.”

Looking ahead, Tinubu expressed confidence in his administration’s direction.

“As we march towards the third anniversary… we shall succeed in building a brighter future,” he said, assuring Nigerians that “with your continued support, we shall overcome.”

The President urged unity in nation-building, adding, “Let us continue to work together to build a stronger, prosperous and more resilient nation that will make Nigeria the pride of Africa.”
