“Thunder Fire You!” – Why Angry Citizens Abuse, Curse Sanwo-Olu Over Killing Of #EndSars Protesters Under His Watch

Within two hours that The Lagos Monitoring Team, one of the public engagement pages of the Lagos State Government on Facebook posted the statement announcing that Governor Babajide has ordered an investigation into the mindless killing of peaceful protesters at the Lekki Toll, it racked up one thousand and seven hundred comments and three hundred hundred and ninety three shares.

All the comments were filled with curses and abuses for the Governor and his team.

The abuse is hinged on claims it is a needless playing to the gallery that Sanwo-Olu as Governor should be in the know.

‘’Thunder Fire you” was one of the most civil comments under the post.

Here are some of the other “civil” curses and abuses that showed that for Sanwo-Olu it a case of a bad end to a good beginning in the handling of the #EndSars protests.

Sanwo-Olu had been exemplary in his engagements with the protesters, the singular shining light of the Government’s handling of the protests that rocked different parts of Lagos state.

But as shown by the comments under The Lagos Monitoring Team page, the nation is extraordinarily angry that the horrific killing and maiming of peaceful protesters was carried out under his watch by soldiers on the evening of Tuesday, October 20, 2020.
