Emerging details have further narrowed the extent of Senator Ifeanyi Ubah’s loss in Sunday night’s ambush of his convoy.

The convoy of the Senator representing Anambra South was ambushed by gunmen at Nkwo Enugu Ukwu, Njikoka LGA of Anambra state on Sunday, September 11, 2022.

Ubah who recently clocked 51 – on September 3 – narrowly escaped the rain of bullets that ended the lives of some of his aides and security details thanks to the bullet-proof vehicle he was driving in and the never-say-die approach of his driver.

Information at hand revealed that the attack claimed the lives of his two most trusted aides – personal treasurer, Ikechukwu Odum, and personal assistant, Goodness Mathias.

They were traveling in a separate vehicle but the attackers reportedly targeted all the cars in the convoy according to information monitored across media platforms.

Comments credited to Ubah’s spokesperson Kameh Ogbonna claim the fact that the senator was in a bullet-proof vehicle – unlike other members of his convoy – saved his life.

The Senator’s convoy reportedly suddenly came under heavy gunfire.

Aside from the men in Ubah’s convoy, the life of a chief in a neighboring community was also claimed in the attack.

He was unfortunate to be plying the route at the time of the attack.

The Anambra police command has commenced an investigation into the gun attack that resulted in multiple deaths.
