Things Go Worse For “Mighty” Tinubu As Powerful Politician Is Reduced To Fighting Oyegun!

It is obvious the raging battle of influence in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is not going the way of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

The “national leader” who contributed in no small measure to the formation of the All Progressives Congress and it’s defeat of a sitting president – Goodluck Jonathan – is now reduced to fighting one of the by-products of his creation for relevance.

Asiwaju Tinubu is accusing party chairman John Odigie – Oyegun of frustrating his newly given task of “reconciling warring factions” within the APC, as general election beckons.

Tinubu In a leaked letter to President Muhammadu Buhari – his taskmaster – claims the party chairman is compounding the challenges of his reconciliation efforts by taking “improper unilateral decisions” on issues affecting the party at the national and state levels.

An insider, however, claims what is at stake is the “soul of the party structure”.

Oyegun is said to be battling to prevent Tinubu from “hijacking” his “power and functions” in the name of undertaking reconciliation efforts.

The party chairman is said to have influential powers seeking to protect their “interests” from encroachment by Tinubu behind him.

“It’s the same 360 degrees and worse for Tinubu, he is battling the same influences that have caged him to a corner of limited relevance in his new task, but this time on their own battleground” a source analyzed.

Tinubu, a major player in the emergence of Buhari as President and APC as ruling party was “thrashed” according to his wife, Senator Remi Tinubu immediately set goals where achieved.

Happenings after President Buhari assumed power back her claim.

He was consigned to the sidelines of governance thanks to strategic appointments and election of “political officers” that refused to go his way.

The “peacemaker” task handed him by second term seeking President Buhari threw him right back into the middle of the game – and obviously another mess.

“The fact that Tinubu has to reach out to Senate President Bukola Saraki and Speaker House of Reps Yakubu Dogara as well vice President Yemi Osinbajo to fight Oyegun shows how deep the mess is” a source disclosed.

Tinubu copied the Vice President Osinbajo, Saraki, and Dogara in the leaked letter to president Buhari crying out over alleged actions of Oyegun affecting his function as a peacemaker.

Ironically, Tinubu’s all-out fight to stop Saraki and Dogara from attaining present positions- in which he requires their help- contributed in no small measure to “reduce his power and influences” in the APC.

As he battles Oyegun, a by-product of his creation, for power and relevance keen observers of unfolding events claim Tinubu’s cry out letter to Buhari and others revealed how truly his might and clout have been reduced in the scheme of things. And that his new task may not be more than just an errand to keep him busy and distract him from the “major decisions” until the last minute as another election nears.APC logo
