Insiders insist there is a big upside for ex-governor Orji Uzor Kalu in the court ruling that earned him a 12years prison term.

His other businesses are protected from the court ruling.

The court ordered that Slok Nigeria Limited – of the defendants in the N7.65billion corruption case – be liquidated and its assets forfeited to the Federal Government.

The ruling spared Kalu the agony of losing other major businesses like Sun Newspaper.

Societynow.ng learned that workers at the place and others that depend on the publishing house heaved a huge sigh of relief with ruling that confined liquidation and seizure of assets to Slok Nigeria Limited.

Once upon a time one of the major businesses of Kalu, Slok Nigeria Limited is certainly no longer a thriving enterprise at present.

Kalu who is the Senator representing Abia North – and Senate Chief Whip – was convicted, along with his accomplices, of all 27 count charge in an N7.65 corruption case that has roots in his tenure as the governor of Abia state between May 29, 1999, and May 29, 2007.
