Tears In Ogun State As Governor’s Major Backer Displaces Residents From Their Homes

There are tears and gnashing of teeth in a part of Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State.

One of the major backers of the Governor has displaced some residents of Magbon from their homes.

Societynow.ng learned this development is the reclaiming of land by the influential politician at the heart of the development.

‘’From what I heard, the politician claimed he owned the land and sacked the victims as part of the process of the reclaiming it’’ societynow.ng learned.

Some of the victims owned completed houses and lived on the reclaimed land.

‘’I don’t blame the politician the Omo Oniles (local parlance for those whose inheritance are land) encroached on the expanse of land bought by the politician and sold them to the unsuspecting victims who built their homes there’’ a source disclosed.

Insiders disclosed that the politician who was one of the early supporters of Governor Abiodun and ‘’elder’’ in the ruling party in Ogun State refused to ‘’trade’’ with those that encroached on it in reclaiming it.

‘’Victims were sacked from their homes’’ a source stated.

This development is said to have earned the politician condemnation from those who believed he should have shown empathy to the victims who were also victims of circumstances by offering them the option of ‘’buying it’’ in the name of paying compensation.
