Talks Erupt Popular Ogun East Politician Wants To Take Over Ogun Central Senate Seat
Information circulating claims that this move is part of a broader agenda
There is an emerging gist in the political circle of Ogun state.
A known political figure in Ogun East is said to be eyeing the Senatorial seat of Ogun Central.
Information circulating claims that this move is part of a broader agenda to control the government and politics of Ogun state.
The political figure is reportedly strongly weighing the option due to the uphill task of unseating the incumbent Senator representing Ogun East, Gbenga Daniel.
Daniel, a former two-term governor, owns one of the most formidable political structures in the state and won his election to the Senate—despite strong opposition within his party—by an unprecedented margin.
Since becoming Senator, Daniel has continued empowerment efforts and has remained deeply engaged with voters, as though the election were still ongoing.
According to speculation, the political figure from Ogun East, eyeing Ogun Central, sees the Senate as a strategic position to maintain relevance—identifying the seat as the most viable opportunity.
“He is a member of the ruling party and has enough clout to secure the party’s ticket. Winning the election, however, is another challenge,” according to the circulating gist.
The Ogun Central Senatorial seat is currently held by Shaibu Salisu Afolabi, a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
