Supreme Court Affirms Nyesom Wike Is Gov Of Rivers State

The Supreme Court has affirmed Nyesom Wike as the governor of Rivers state.

Supreme Court has just affirmed the of the election of Barrister Nyesom Wike as the elected governor of Rivers state, having set aside the judgment of the Court of Appeal that sacked him from office on December 16, 2015, and the decision of the Rivers State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal delivered in October 2015.

The panel of justices of the apex court said Wike’s appeal had merit resolved all the 11 issues raised in the Appeal Court in favour of the appellant (Wike).

The court then held that Wike was validly elected as governor of River State in the April 11, 2015 governorship election conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The court said reasons for the judgment shall be given on Friday February 12, 2016.
