Information filtering in has it that there is an ongoing lobby for the position of the Inspector General of Police.

This is development is said to be as a result of the “trouble” enveloping the present occupier, Ibrahim Idris.

The nation’s number one police officer is engulfed in allegations of bribery and sexual misconduct.

He denies all the charges against him dredge up by former police officer and now Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Hamman Isah Misau.

But different anti-corruption groups have latched onto the development and demand for the resignation of the police boss.

Sources disclose Senior Officers monitoring the situation and who believe they have a shot at becoming replacement candidate have kick-started a quiet lobby.

Societynow gathered the move is premised on the perceptions there is a very strong possibility that the “allegations” decorating IGP Idris would unseat him.

“It is not about competence or related issue, his fate purely a political matter and the political points are being stacked against him, even within the police hierarchy” a source stated.

Information available has it that the Senior police officers lobbying for the number one spot are assiduously calling political favours and mortgaging political goodwill to achieve their “ambition”.
