Senator Adeola Yayi Disowns Supporters Attacking Other Office Holders
has distanced himself from recent derogatory attacks
Senator Solomon Adeola, popularly known as Yayi and representing Ogun West Senatorial District, has distanced himself from recent derogatory attacks by some of his supporters on other political office holders in Ogun State.
In a statement signed by his media adviser, Chief Kayode Odunaro, the senator expressed deep concern over a wave of abusive commentaries and social media posts by individuals and groups who claim to be acting in his defense. He made it clear that he neither sanctioned nor approved of such actions, warning that such behavior does not align with his style of politics or governance.
“I am greatly disturbed by the derogatory media attacks in some online media and on social media against a honourable member of the parliament by some individuals or groups ostensibly acting to show support and defend me,” Senator Adeola said. “I have not mandated anyone or group to attack any one or act on my behalf on any issue in the public domain in Ogun State.”
At the heart of this development is the growing and unrestrained push by some of the senator’s loyalists for him to emerge as the gubernatorial candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State for the 2027 election.
Reacting to a statement from a group that targeted a political officeholder who had criticized his supporters during a media appearance, Senator Adeola categorically disassociated himself from the response and condemned the use of abusive language, urging his followers to uphold civility and decorum in political discourse.
While acknowledging and appreciating the support he receives from admirers and political associates, the senator insisted that such support must be expressed in respectful and constructive ways. “I completely disassociate myself from such deeds as they are not in my style of politics or governance,” he emphasized.
As the leader of the Ogun State Caucus in the National Assembly, Senator Adeola reaffirmed his commitment to working in harmony with Governor Dapo Abiodun and other elected officials at both state and federal levels to advance development initiatives under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
“Let all my supporters know that I have not mandated them to attack anyone on my behalf. I believe in politics of inclusion and will never close the door on any perceived opponents or fellow party members as they are likely supporters in the future,” he added.
Senator Adeola stressed that there is no internal division among the political leadership in Ogun State that justifies public altercations or personal attacks. He reiterated his stand against divisive rhetoric and called on his support base to focus instead on constructive engagement and unity of purpose.
