As the polity in Ekiti State gets heated up ahead of the July 14 governorship polls, it appears clearly that spotlight is beaming more on the candidacy of Otunba Segun Adewale.

An indigene of Ipoti-Ekiti, under Ijero Local Government Area of the state, OSA is a top player in the aviation industry. It is apparent that Aeroland, as he is popularly called is the most eligible candidate to wand the needed magic to transform Ekiti into becoming a hub of commerce and infrastructural development.

According to Adewale, who is the Chairman/CEO of Aeroland Group of Companies, his business which he registered over 20 years ago on soft loan, today, boasts of a capital base of over 10billion Naira.

For obvious reasons, Adewale easily passes as the round egg in the round hole, to fix the degenerating state of poverty which indigenes and residents of the state has been plunged into by the mal-administrative style of past leadership in the state .

OSA is strongly driven by the idea that Ekiti can become highly industrialized; attracting foreign investors, while increasing capacity building and human resourcefulness.

Adewale’s alluring mandate is hinged on revamping key sectors in the state like Agriculture, Technology, Education and Health care delivery. He envisions tuning Ekiti into a reference point for other states in Nigeria. OSA promises to ensure that the state (Ekiti) does not depend on the Federal Government financially moving forward.

With the currently internal crises polarizing the state’s Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and All Progressives Congress, APC, in deciding who bears the flag of these parties among the governorship hopefuls in the state, most politicians and those who matter in Ekiti are rooting for the candidacy of Aeroland. He has been construed as the third force and a genuine fresh air from the array of recycled political figures that the state has witnessed in recent time.

Ahead of PDP’s primary election billed for April, the other aspirants have shown dissatisfaction and rebuffed vehemently Governor, Ayodele Fayose’s allegedly attempt at subverting the primary election and imposition of his deputy on the party, as such other aspirants and members of the party have called on the Uche Secondus-led executive to ensure that a free, fair and credible primary election is conducted.

The gubernatorial flag bearer of APC will be elected on May 6, while sale of Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms to aspirants starts April 6.

Most politicians in the state are ready to decamp and take a queue behind OSA to a new party. Even the not so big political parties in the state are also wooing OSA to be their candidate.

As the coast gradually gets clear for the polls in July, the country is watching with baited breath to see voters in all the 2,195 polling units, 177 wards and 16 local government areas will go to the poll to elect a new governor in the Land of Honor and Integrity for the coming political dispensation.
