Search Light On Nearby Structures As Rescue Effort At Collapsed 3Storey Building In Lagos Island Ends

Insiders disclosed that there is a move to determine the structural integrity of nearby properties as rescue efforts at the collapsed 3storey building at Ita Faaji, Lagos Island nears an end.

About ten individuals including pupils died when the 3storey building collapsed on Massey Street while the school making use of the structure was in session.

About fifty individuals mainly pupils were taken out of the collapsed building through joint efforts by concerned citizens and government agencies.

The collapsed building housed Ohen Nursery and Primary school and residential apartments.

The news of the incident which spread like wildfire attracted condolence messages from President Muhammadu Buhari, Senate President Bukola Saraki and others.

Governor Ambode promised that the state government would take care of the medical expenses of the victims while assuring citizens those responsible for the tragic affair would be brought to book.

Societynow.ng gathered that as part of efforts to prevent a future occurrence of a similar disaster, a structural integrity test is being considered other structures in the proximity of the collapsed building.

This is said to be based on the fear that the impact of the fall of the collapsed three storey building may have affected nearby properties.
