Rumor Or Not, Party Men, Aspirants Vow To Resist “Importation” Of Guber Candidate By Amosun

Recently news broke that outgoing governor of Ogun state Ibikunle Amosun has concluded plans to make Mrs. Titilayo Odunfa Adeoye, a Nigerian based in Canada as his successor.

But first, the governor needs to make the little known Adeoye his party, All Progressives Congress candidate in the upcoming Ogun gubernatorial election.

Checks by societynow.ng, however, revealed party members, urged on by other gubernatorial aspirants and their backers, have vowed to resist any attempt to bring in a candidate outside the structure on the ground.

“Feelers I get is that since the news broke the other stakeholders have taken a stand, they don’t care whether it is correct or not, the stand they have taken is that they will resist the emergence of anybody outside of the existing APC political structure on ground in the state from becoming party candidate” a source provided insight.

Further digs by societynow.ng revealed that the growing ill wind against the alleged plan by Amosun to make a loyalist outside of the political structure actually started before the news about Adeoye broke.
A couple of weeks before the development the governor was said to have told a select group of loyalists that his successor may not even be a politician.

This statement is said to have started a silent resentment against the idea until the Adeoye story emboldened open campaign against such a move.
