Those who are familiar with the kind of politicking that played out prior to the emergence of Charles Akindiji Akinola as the chief of staff to Osun State governor, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola have come to town with what actually threw the position his way.

Former governor Aregbesola had wanted the position be given to his son Kabiru but lost out in the move.

Kabiru Aregbesola is the ex-governor’s son behind the infamous and largely criticised Tablet of Learning (Opon – Imo) distributed to secondary students in the state.

Also, Tunde Rahman reportedly rooted for by national leader of the ruling All progressives Congress Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu failed to clinch the position.

Mr Rahman is Asiwaju Tinubu’s spokesperson.

Findings revealed governor Oyetola outright kicked against the choice of Kabiru Aregbesola, son of the man he served as Chief Of Staff for eight years.

But Aregbesola’s insistence that he should be allowed to determine who occupies the position as a mark of honour paved way for the eventual occupier of the office of Chief of Staff to the governor, our source maintained.

Further checks by societynow.ng revealed Diji Akinola as Mr Aregbesola’s alternative candidate for the position of Governor Oyetola’s Chief of Staff.

“Aregbesola was left with no option than to come up with another name when it became obvious Oyetola was not ready to shift ground on his stand against Kabiru as Chief of Staff”, a source divulged.

That was how Mr Akinola came into the equation, an insider stated.

Digs by societynow.ng showed Mr Diji Akinola is a personal friend and former appointee of former governor Aregbesola.

Further findings also revealed him to be Aregbesola’s kinsman from Ilesha, Osun State.

He was appointed by former governor Rauf Aregbesola as Director-General, Office of Economic Development and Partnerships (OEDP) in 2011.

Naturally, Akinola has been tagged by those in the know as Aregbesola’s eye in incumbent governor Oyetola’s administration.
