There is emerging pressure for Gboyega Isiaka to shelve his gubernatorial ambition and support Solomon Olamilekan Adeola.

Isiaka, the House of Representatives member representing Egbado North and Imeko-Afon Federal constituency at the National Assembly wants to have a shot at the Ogun state Governorship seat for the fourth time.

He is in contention with the Senator representing Ogun West, Solomon Adeola for the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial ticket for the 2027 election.

Senator Adeola famously known as Yayi and Isiaka also known as GNI are members of the APC and from Yewa, the low votes area of Ogun state yet to produce a Governor of the state.

Insiders say stakeholders in the area are banding together and lobbying all those in the area to unite and poll resources to back one candidate for the 2027 election.

Sources say at the heart of the agenda to remove the disadvantage of splitting the low votes from the area among different candidates is determining a consensus.

According to information credited to those behind the agenda, based on what appears to be a more widespread political structure and the high-impact initiatives he is doing, Yayi has been adopted as the person other aspirants should step down for.

Insiders claim that the stakeholders are particular about getting GNI Isiaka to side with the agenda because his support is seen as crucial in keeping a united front to get the APC gubernatorial ticket and also win the election.

Yayi despite his massive relentlessly and intensive play since 2012 has found it hard to secure an appreciable foothold in Isiaka’s domain of Imeko Afon and related areas of influence.

“So getting GNI to not only step down but also support Yayi though tricky is very key for the Senator to have a fighting chance of becoming the consensus candidate for Yewa in the struggle to produce the next Governor of Ogun state. That is why the pressure is mounting on GNI” insiders say.
