The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria Godwin Emefiele obviously has a serious backer in the government of the day.
Godwin Emefiele was appointed Central Bank of Nigeria by former president Goodluck Jonathan.
And when the government of President Muhammadu Buhari took shape many thought he would be shown the way out.
But that didn’t happen as the nation’s number one banker is said to have a powerful individual in the presidency to rely on.
Checks by societynow.ng have revealed Mr Abba Kyari as the powerful government official behind the CBN governor.
Mr Abba Kyari is the chief of staff to President Muhammadu Buhari.
He’s regarded in many quarters as probably the most powerful person in retired General Muhammadu Buhari’s Presidency.
Digs by societynow.ng showed Mr Emefiele has been an ally of Chief of Staff Kyari long before the emergence of the government of the day.
And this explains why Mr Emefiele’s job remains intact against all odds, a source disclosed.
“From what I know Mr Emefiele is one of the few men in the corporate world who enjoy a solid relationship with Mr Kyari and due to the kind of confidence he has in them he goes out of his way to get things done for them”, an insider disclosed.
The kind of support the Chief of Staff throws the way of Mr Emefiele also played out recently when news broke he has been asked to proceed on terminal leave ahead of the expiration of his tenure.
According to sources, the story changed Immediately the man of influence stepped in and the wind blew in favour of the former bank managing director, findings revealed.
