Funky traditional ruler, Abdularasheed Akanbi the self-styled emperor of Iwo is at odds with Ooni of Ife Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi.

Sources disclosed Akanbi is waging a silent war of influence and supremacy with Ooni.

Those who should know claim the flamboyant monarch is trying to position his stool as equal to that of the Ooni.

“Part of his antics is the widely celebrated claim as the Oluwo is also qualified to become the Ooni” a source disclosed.

Insiders disclosed the Ooni and his handlers shunned the young monarch and his self-positioning mouthing until he attempted to publicly give action to his sayings.

The fallout of this development is Oluwo’s cry out of been “pushed” out of the way by the Ooni’s aides to provide passage for their principal insiders disclose.

At a meeting of first class traditional ruler attended in Port Harcourt, Rivers state, the Oluwo – in conversation with a public office holder – had stood in the way of the Ooni.

The tradition is that traditional rulers of lesser standing give way to those of higher rank, but goaded by his unanswered supremacy fight and the fact that he was at the meeting as a First class traditional ruler as the Ooni – the Oluwo refused to give way but rather told the aides to inform the Ooni to wait for him to conclude his conversation.

Unable to stomach the “sacrilege”, the Ooni aides “created” way for their principal without recourse to instruction on what to do.

Historical checks revealed that though a first-class monarch as the Ooni, the Oluwo is ranked below the sitter of the throne of Ile Ife.

“It is an assault on Yoruba culture and tradition for the Oluwo to stand in the way of the Ooni, not to talk of requesting that he waits for him to finish whatever he was doing before providing passage” an insider disclosed.
