The campaign by embattled chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party, Raymond Alegho Dokpesi to become party chairman has hit troubled waters.

This development is attributed to emerging approach of party big wigs to host him as he campaigns across the country.

Digs by societynowng.com attribute this development to allegedly hoodwinking of influential party man gbenga daniel by the Dokpesi and his handlers in the media.

Sources confirmed the Raypower boss seeking support from major players in his party ahead the August 17 national convention had sought audience with the former governor of Ogun state.

He was reportedly hosted at the Conference Hotel, Ishagamu along with his team.

Daniel himself being pressurised to vie for the position Dokpesi came to seek his support about was said to have adopted a middle ground at the meeting.

He reported declared intention to support all efforts towards revival of the party.

According to a source ”he never endorsed or announced stepping down for Dokpesi to become national chairman”

This assertion was contrary to what played out immediately after the meeting.

Dokpesi’s handlers went to town seizing on Daniels comments to support all efforts to revive the party to announce the former governor had endorsed their principal and announced stepping down for him.

Daniel known for already working underground to bring warring factions in the PDP together was put on the spot.

As a major power in PDP, he found it hard to damage Dokpesi’s ambition beyond repair vehemently denying the assertions credited to him.

He opted for telling party leaders and stakeholders who called for confirmation ”the truth”.

Insiders claim this development as made others Dokpesi is seeking audience with to become jittery of ”hosting him”.

A development opponents of the aspirant facing mega money laundering charges have started using to campaign against him.
