The questions troubling the claim by Lagos State Solomon Olamilekan Adeola that he is from Ogun state have been answered.

The Senator representing Lagos West wants to take up the same position in Ogun state in 2023.

The move is faced with fierce opposition including assertions that he is not an indigene of Ogun state.

One of his “campaigners”, Leader Ajiroba Dapo Oke II, took to social media to answer the questions troubling the claims of the Senator more popularly known as Yayi that he is an indigene of Ogun state.

The supporter of the Lagos Senator said to be working towards succeeding Dapo Abiodun as Governor wrote

THE HISTORICAL FACTS ABOUT YAYI ..

  • their questions and our answers

They said Yayi is from Ekiti BLA BLA…

For almost a decade now since they have started the arguments, they couldn’t point to any particular compound as his family compound in any Ekiti town nor get just a family member from his Ekiti clan or home to say yeah, he is our son, this is the family history about him .

Here in Ogun state , the entire Isaga people and Isaga communities including their Monarch rose up to identify him as their Son . The family compound in Isaga exist and there are old men and women from the old structures in the compound who knew the history of his late father; “Abdugafar, a plumber by profession who left for Lagos in search of greener pastures many years ago”. Go to Isaga and ask of Baba Olomi and you will know the truth immediately. Another old woman who married in Imasayi has also claimed she is his father’s younger Sister from same parents . That woman is still alive . Even when they don’t have any contrary fact to ascertain their fake positions, they have refused to accept the ones they heard and seen with proofs. Like the proverbial deaf man , they kept on talking about the only and same fictions they have heard before their hearing ailments began.

They asked questions , why did he go to Isaga, Joga orile and Finally Ilaro . Again, the answers were given thus…

Isaga is the ancestral home and his Partenal family roots. Joga Orile is the Paternal-Maternal family background. Yayi’s grandmother hailed from Joga Orile just few kilometers from Isaga. Nobody had risen up to disclaim this fact from his Paternal grandmother family home till date, the family is well known in Joga orile .

Pahayi-Ilaro, of course, his great grandfather was among the early settlers in Agbo ile onibata, Ago isaga, Pahayi, Ilaro. There is no controversy about the family name in the historical records of the ancient town ,Agbo ile Onibata and the present head of the family , Hon. Pa M. A Ogundimu told the whole world that Yayi is his Cousin . He even mentioned that his first time of going to Lagos was at the instance of Yayi’s father, his Uncle stating further that he once lived with him briefly in Lagos. It therefore means that Yayi’s story to a plain minded reader cannot be complete without references to Isaga, Joga orile and Pahayi in Ilaro . His family roots are firmly established in the three towns with concrete proofs . Even when they are told these facts, they still disappointedly ask the rhetorical questions repeatedly

Here is an excerpt from Yayi’s biography as a further proof.

“His Father, Ayinde Abdul-gafar Adeola Ogunleye hailed from Ago Isaga, Pahayi from the popular Agbo ile Elemo Onibata, Pahayi Ilaro , Yewa South Local Government of Ogun State. He was the grandson of Ogundimu-Sangoloni and great grandson of Olege (Olege) one of the early settlers who migrated from Isaga Orile to settle at Ago Isaga Ilaro from where they later moved to Pahayi town, a suburb of Ilaro.

According to Chief Michael Adelani Ogundimu, the head of the Ogundimu family of Ago Isaga, Pahayi, Ilaro, the civil strife that engulfed the ancient Isaga town in 1862 forced many inhabitants to flee from the ancient town to find refuge in many locations notably Ilaro, Ago Isaga, Ota, Isaga Onlado near Atan Otta, Ago Isaga, Owode Yewa, Ilobi, Ajilete, Oke Odan, Ado odo, including Iju Isaga, Ilo Village in Ipaja, Isagatedo in Isolo, Isaga Agbado, Isaga Surulere in the present day Lagos West Senatorial District and in some other locations in the present day Republic of Benin all numbering about 100 towns and villages that today have contact with Isaga Orile…”

They even asked us , who were his friends and siblings from Yewa ….?

Without trouble , the answers were given even with the aids of photographs. Yes, Yayi has a Childhood friend in Jagunmolu Akande Omoniyi , the present Commissioner for Housing in Ogun State who told us they were school mate and that since when they were in school he knew him (Yayi) as his brother from Yewa saying the mother always recounted they are from Yewa. As God will have it, the friendship was so close that Yayi was the best man when Jagunmolu got married some years back late 90s in Lagos. They were shocked to hear this from a notable and prominent indigene of Yewa but they were still not satisfied.

Yayi Senior Sister is resident in Isaga, his senior brother, Papa said that they all knew Isaga and Pahayi as their paternal ancestral home and Kemta Itoku ,Abeokuta as their maternal home from Akinola Sodipo family . Members of Akinola Sodipo family knew they gave their daughter Madam Abeni Akinola Sodipo in marriage to an Isaga man. based in Lagos and never had any link with an Ekiti man as their inlaw. They gave convincing information regarding the family background of Solomon Olamilekan . The way these fake people were carrying their spurious rumours about who would have even believe that Yayi’s ever has a link with any part of Ogun state. A trip to Baye lane ,in Itoku Kemta will further expose the wickedness of these disgruntled elements who had taken politics too far into the mud for their selfish gains

Unfortunately, some of those asking the question about Yayi’s childhood friends from Yewa can hardly mention two persons they also related with while many of their children doesn’t even have any link to people at home . I’m equally guilty of this as my children doesn’t have friends in Ilaro maybe untill lately too. They only come home during Christmas and new year.

Again they said if Yayi is from Isaga then he is not an indigene of Ilaro. That’s ridiculously funny as they are mischievously raising a baseless argument

They forgot that history of the world is weaved around stories of people , wars, migrations and settlements . We have been told how Yayi’s great grandparents migrated from Isaga following Dahomey war incursions of late 19th century to settle in present Pahayi like other 65 satelite Isaga communities in many parts of Ogun and Lagos . It is not only about Yayi, just try and take a historical tour of your family background by reading your oriki and you will find similar history over and over again. Isaga okunmase is a popular oriki of many Ilaro, Otta, Oke odan, Ado , Owode, etc indigenes . The fact is we all migrated from one place or the other before settling where we are today . Nobody is an original indigene except for very few aborigines in the early settlements , we are all first and foremost settlers who later became natives and remotely indigenes of our different towns and cities. Thank God , Isaga till date is a well known Yewa town in the cultural history of Yorubaland while Alimosho the area Senator Yayi represents in the Senate today are known Yewa settlements among which are isaga people .

I think I need to mention that the problem with many of our political actors and brothers crying foul are these problems of desperation, greed and intolerance . They knew it quite well that Yayi is a Yewa man by birth and history but they are deliberately whipping up unnecessary sentiments to pull him down for them to have their ways . They are exploiting the fact that he was born and bred in Lagos and had been a key political actor in Lagos and so they felt he shouldn’t come and trouble the water in there so called comfort zones . Yayi’s home coming had been long overdue that’s why some of us are hell bent to stand by the truth to bring him on board. We need his political experience, his resources and strong and rich political background in our quest for power and right placement in Ogun state.

Moses grew up in the Egyptian court and only few people knew him to be an Hebrew while serving in the court . When it was time to liberate his people the Hebrew blood in him pushed him forward and he left his people out of Egypt ,through the red sea and the wilderness untill they finally got to the promised land . In Yayi, we have a date with history in Yewaland .
