President Muhammadu Buhari Arrive Abeokuta For Ogun 40th Anniversary, 40 Projects Celebration

President Muhammadu Buhari is expected to arrive Abeokuta, the Capital Ogun State today to join the 40th Anniversary celebrations of the state in a series of events tagged Project 40/40.

Instead of a series of “owambe” parties, the Ogun State Government led by Senator Ibikunle Amosun outlined how serious it is with its quest to develop the state and elevate the lives of the people by marking the landmark occasion of its 40th Anniversary with commissioning of projects and

emphasising on the greatness of the State.

With a brand new logo and a payoff line: Ogun State Nigeria:Proud Heritage,Promising Future”, the Government actually began the 7-day celebration on Friday, January 29th with the finals of a Quiz Competition at 9. am. That afternoon, there was special Jumat Service at the Kobiti Central Mosque, Abeokuta and the day was rounded off with a highly entertaining event “Ogun Got Talent”

Day 2 began at 10am with a Town Hall Meeting at the Cultural Centre, Abeokuta and at 7pm, it was time for guests to enjoy a stage play “Aroba” which chronicles the State’s moving historical moments. On Sunday, December 31, 2016, there would be a Special Thanksgiving Service at St. Peter’s Cathedral, Ake. While Day 4 would kick off with a Special Executive Council Meeting to be chaired by Governor Amosun, we are told that all past Governors are expected to attend, a similar situation would play itself out at the House of Assembly where a Special Plenary Session would be held. Also, all former Principal officers have been invited.

The celebration will hit a higher tempo today, Monday, February 1, 2016 when President Muhammadu Buhari is expected to arrive Abeokuta, the Ogun State Capital to lend his Presidential support to the giant strides going on in the state. His first assignment would be to commission the Mobalufon Bridge and From there, he would then head for the commissioning Ijebu- Ode Township Road & Flyover.

He would breeze into the Palace of the Awujale, Oba Sikiru Adetona for some cocktails and enjoy royal blessings before heading to Abeokuta. At 7.00pm a colourful event, “Ogun State 40 Projects grand celebrations” would unfold at the MKO Abiola Stadium. This would be an evening for Ogun Indigenes Entertainment Professionals Forum to showcase their talents, of course there would be exciting calisthenics and gripping fireworks display.

On Day 4, Mr. President would leave early for a tour of Ayetoro and then he would be commissioning the following projects:Abeokuta Metro Roads, Omida Market, Brewere/OGTV Road and Itoku Flyover. He would pay a courtesy call on the Alake of Egbaland before turning the sod of the judiciary complex, commissioning Femi & Dotun Oyewole Model School and 3Hills Estate in Kobape. The day would be rounded off with a Presidential Luncheon and Ogun State Awards.

Day 6 would be led by Vice President, Prof, Yemi Osinbajo, himself a proud son of the soil. He would then Commission projects in Ogun East Senatorial district which include: New Makun City, Sagamu Interchange, Sagamu Road, Sagamu Flyover, Sagamu Model School, Ikenne Model School, Ago Iwoye Model School, OSUTH Diagnostic Centre, Sagamu and Emuren Hatchery. Of course he would pay a courtesy visit to the Akarigbo of Remoland.

From 2pm he is expected back in Ogun Central to commission AAK Degun Motros Estate, Mechanic Village, Obada Oko, Isal-Igbein Spare Parts Market, Owowo Farm Settlement, Ewekoro Model School, Onijanganjangan Model School and Totoro Medic Centre. There would be a stage Play “Ojo Ola” by the Ogun Indigenes Forum and then the day would be rounded off with a dinner with Prof. Osinbajo,

Day 7 Thursday, February 4th would be the Commissioning of Ogun West Project by Senator Ibikunle Amosun himself. The projects include Mowe-Ofada Road and Alagbagba Cocoa Plantation.
