Postponement Reversed! Adeola Yayi Says Jan 3 Thanksgiving Will Hold
reversed an earlier announcement postponing his annual Thanksgiving and New Year party
Senator Solomon Adeola, chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriations famously known as Yayi, has reversed an earlier announcement postponing his annual Thanksgiving and New Year party, confirming that the event will now hold as originally scheduled on Saturday, January 3, 2026.
Adeola, who represents Ogun West Senatorial District on the platform of the APC, said the earlier statement announcing a shift of the event to Sunday, January 4, 2026 was issued in error.
The celebration was initially billed to take place in Ilaro on Saturday before the postponement notice cited circumstances beyond his control.
In a fresh clarification released on Friday, the senator reaffirmed Saturday, January 3 as the correct date, stressing that “the earlier statement on the postponement was made in error, and the thanksgiving and New Year party will hold as originally planned.”
Yayi said all arrangements for the event in Ilaro remain unchanged, adding that “all details of the programme remain the same, and guests are welcome to attend as earlier scheduled.”
Adeola expressed regret over the confusion caused by the earlier announcement and apologised to guests, well-wishers and supporters expected at the event.
He added that the thanksgiving remains an open gathering, inviting supporters and members of the public to join him in Ilaro to give thanks to God for the new year.
