Oracle To Pick Next Alaafin Out Of 58 Princes Shortlisted From 119 Aspirants
61 aspirants were disqualified
Kingmakers responsible for the selection of a new Alaafin of Oyo have shortlisted 58 princes from a list of 119 aspirants.
61 aspirants were disqualified in the screening that had in attendance officials from the Oyo state government.
The screening was held at the Baba Iyaji Palace SocietyNow.Ng gathered.
Information at hand revealed that the Council of Baba Iyaji, Agunpopo, Arole, Ona Isokun, and Atingisi did the screening.
The next Alaafin of Oyo will be produced from the 58 shortlisted princes SocietyNow.Ng learned.
The selection will be made by 6 members of the powerful “Oyomesi” through the Oracle according to the information at hand.
The name of the chosen one will be sent to the Oyo state government for formal recognition.
The throne of the Alaafin of Oyo became vacant with the passage of the last occupier, 83-year-old Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi on Friday, April 22, 2022, after 52years on the throne.
