A former governor of Lagos state Asiwaju Bola Tinubu says that the famous Okota incident is insignificant compared to the larger picture.

Tinubu spoke today after casting his vote in Alausa, Ikeja Lagos state.

The powerful politician expressed displeasure over the Okota incident which transpired during the Presidential and National Assembly election held on February 23.

The Okota incident transformed an ethnic issue based on the slant given to it.

Thugs attacked polling units in Okota, an ear predominantly made up of Igbo voters – and disrupted voting.

One of the thugs identified as Damola was caught and nearly beaten to death by the angry Igbo voters.

Asiwaju Tinubu insists he is very upset over the whole affair.

‘’There are 1325 polling units in Lagos and something happened in five units….and Lagos is now portrayed as violence-prone’’ the APC leader stated expressing his displeasure.

The former governor of Lagos state insists that putting the figures side by side, the success recorded is about 97% success and it is not correct to use the incident at five polling units to label the whole exercise as a failure.
Tinubu charged the media to be more responsible in reportage of events.
