Ogun Gives Update On Eba Island Oil Exploration Milestones
significant step in the state’s drive to unlock its hydrocarbon potential
Following the Federal Government’s grant of Frontier Exploration Status to Ogun State through the Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources, oil exploration activities have commenced on Eba Island, marking a significant step in the state’s drive to unlock its hydrocarbon potential.
Key milestones already achieved include the successful completion of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), Bathymetric, Topographical and Geotechnical Surveys, as well as the receipt of all statutory approvals from the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) and the Federal Ministry of Environment.
Civil works are currently ongoing, with well intervention/re-entry equipment already deployed to the site. The Ogun State Government says the project is expected to create jobs, attract investment, boost internally generated revenue, and strengthen the state’s position in Nigeria’s energy sector as exploration activities progress.
