On Thursday, June 2, 2022, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the run to become the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential candidate for the February 2023 election made some revelations.

He disclosed that he considered one of three persons as a replacement when Muhammadu Buhari offered him the Vice Presidential slot ahead of the 2015 election.

“Yemi Cardoso was number one, Wale Edun number and Yemi Osinbajo number on my list…I decided to give them only one name Yemi Osinbajo” Tinubu disclosed in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital in the face of a strong push against his ambition.

Osinbajo served as the Vice President to Buhari in his two terms as President – 2015 to 2023- but fell out with Tinubu for particularly vying for the APC Presidential ticket for the 2023 election.

It was a very testy contest but Tinubu won with 1,271 votes and Osinbajo recorded a far-behind third with 235 votes while Rotimi Amaechi stood between them as a distant second with 316 votes SocietyNow.Ng’s checks affirm.

Osinbajo’s refusal to back out of the contest for the APC Presidential ticket reportedly “damaged” his relationship with Tinubu.

Edun is one of the biggest names in President Tinubu’s administration with the appointment as the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy.

The development leaves Yemi Cardoso unaccounted for.

SocietyNow.Ng checks revealed why the highly rated Nigerian banker, chartered stockbroker, and public policy maker is not in Tinubu’s cabinet.

“There are no issues, his time will soon come” SocietyNow.Ng learned about the former chairman of Citibank Nigeria and Ex-Commissioner in charge of Lagos State Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget.

Those who should know revealed that Cardoso who is the founding chairman and co-chair of Ehingbeti Summit, the Lagos state economic summit is not in Tinubu’s cabinet because of huge consideration for political obligations that determine a larger percentage of the appointments.

“He will most certainly be in the picture, larger picture sooner or later. He is an asset that the President needs but there is a more pressing consideration of catering for other political interests that formed the political partnership that birthed the new administration ” SocietyNow.Ng gathered.
