The Director General of the Nigerian Tourism Development Authority (NTDA ), Folorunsho Coker has revealed the wins of the Nigerian-German Cultural Carnival.

The second edition of the event was held in Frankfurt, Germany last week.

“I was immersed in the beauty of our cultures at the carnival. From the rhythmic beats of Nigerian drums to the mesmerizing fusion of traditions, this carnival was a true spectacle. Not only did it showcase our rich heritage, but it also fostered cross-cultural understanding and friendship.” Coker who was in attendance shared his experience.

The Director General of the NTDA – the strengthened replacement for the NTDC ( (Nigeria Tourism Development Corporation) – added that “As we celebrated unity, I couldn’t help but think of the incredible impact this event has on #Nigeriantourism. By sharing our traditions, food, arts, and flavours with the world, we’re inviting everyone to experience the warmth and diversity of #Nigeria. Let’s keep embracing our roots and opening new doors to exploration.”

The development adds to intentional efforts championed by Coker to transform the Tourism sector into a major income earner for Nigeria since his appointment as the Director–General of the Nigerian National Tourism Corporation (NTDC) on November 3, 2017.

His multi-faceted moves to turn around the industry earned him re-appointed on Friday, April 30, 2021, as well as the emergence of industry-turnaround-vehicle in the mold of NTDA through the assent of the Nigerian Tourism Development Authority Act, 2022 by then-President Muhammadu Buhari in February 2023.

One of the most significant gains of the development is the return of Nigeria to the highest level of world tourism, after about a decade, with the election into the Executive Council of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).

This was against the back the backdrop of getting the vice president slot for the Commission for Africa (CAF).

This latest revelation by Coker adds to the gains of the larger objectives of perfecting a more rewarding and collaborative national and international framework that would transform tourism into a major income earner for Nigeria – and all stakeholders.
