NNPC Boss, Baru Reveals Cause Of Fuel Scarcity After “Doubling Supply”

Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Baru Maikanti has revealed the cause of the ongoing fuel scarcity – even after doubling supply nationwide.

Baru puts the blame on hoarding by petroleum marketers and panic buying by consumers.

The NNPC boss also points an accusing finger at the rumor of a looming increase in the pump price of petrol.

Baru who spoke through a statement by Ndu Ughamadu claimed immediately a lapse in the supply process was observed base on the price increase rumor

“… we swiftly swung into action by doubling our supply nationwide. At the time the rumour started, we had about 30-day sufficiency,”

“The normal daily supply to the nation is 700 trucks, equaling about 27-30 million liters per day.”

The NNPC headman claims an end is near – this week- as the corporation works on the supply chain and sister agencies such as the Department of Petroleum Resources and Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency deal with issues of hoarding.
