Niger Goes Tough On Those Vandalizing Govt Property

Niger State Government has issued a stern warning to members of the public that anyone found vandalising Government property will be arrested and prosecuted according to the law.

The Deputy Director, Civil, Niger State Ministry of Works, Muhammad Kudu Madami issued the warning when addressing the media after 17 suspected vandals of the interlocking tiles were paraded at the DSS Command Office, Minna.

Kudu Madami said the arrests of the suspects were carried out with the collaboration of the DSS and the State  Government stressing that the government will not fold its arms and watch people vandalize its property.

He disclosed that the suspects will be thoroughly investigated by the DSS and will be handed over to the appropriate authority for further action.

The Deputy Director also stated that efforts are on to fish out more suspects.

Among the things confiscated from the suspects include two big lorries containing sharp sand, three pickup trucks ladened with interlocking tiles, one Bus, and two tricycles all loaded with interlocking tiles.

Other items include shovels, wheelbarrows and hoes.
