The battle to determine the next Governor of Ogun state has become more intense.

And there are strong indications teachers in the state are being passionately urged to take a stand.

The stand is to work against the emergence of the preferred candidate of the outgoing governor Ibikunle Amosun societynow.ng gathered.

Amosun is backing Adekunle Akinlade, the candidate of rival Allied People’s Movement (APM) to become next governor of Ogun state.

Akinlade left the ruling All Progressives Congress to become APM gubernatorial flag bearer based on the urging of Amosun.

Societynow.ng gathered that the teachers in Ogun state are being mobilized against Akinlade by those using treatment ‘’suffered’’ under the Amosun administration as campaign points.

Different versions of messages urging the teachers not to vote for Akinlade are being passed around.

‘’The messages are very popular and appear to be achieving set objectives. Akinlade is not really popular amongst the teachers’’ societynow.ng learned.

The leaders of the teachers championing this cause are said to be keeping a very low profile for an obvious reason – Amosun is still the Chief Executive Officer in Ogun state.

One of the messages urging a gang up against Akinlade at the polls is reproduced by societynow.ng.

‘’It now sounds very absurd for the gubernatorial candidate of the Allied People’s Movement (APM), Hon. Kunle Akinlade, who is a known stooge and candidate of Governor Amosun to approach us for support.

A stooge of a governor who has stopped paying running cost to public schools for over 3 years, stopped promotion and training of teachers, stopped payment of gratuities and most importantly stopped the remittance of cooperative deductions.

‘’Amosun sacked NLC chair, Comrade Akeem Ambali and 14 others. He suspended 18 teachers during the 2016 World Teachers Day celebration on October 5 in Abeokuta.

Those dismissed were A.O. Oshin, Nola Balogun, Eniola Atiku, Solaru.O., Adebanjo T., Akinola A.S., Oyolola S.A., Obafemi O.B., Ogunsola Peter, Akinlade S.A., Christopher T.A., Ogunrombi A.A., Azeez K.I. and Taiwo A.O.

Those suspended were Odusanya S.A., Comrade Akapo, Adegbesan J.O., Adelami S. I., Obadara O., Ogunnuga O.A., Ayokambi T.A., Tijani A.A., Adegbesan J.O., Idowu A.O., Olaifa O.A., Bayo Lasore, Ahmodu S.A., Oludotun Oliyide, Tijani Y.A., Awode I.A., Dada O.A. and Adesanya Abiola.

We don’t want the continuation of Amosun’s draconian policies through Hon Akinlade of APM. We will speak with our PVCs. Ogun Teachers are not for sale. The N5m you gave to the excos of ASUSS and NUT is our entitlement. Ogun Teachers deserve to have it good and better because we have had it bad and worse under Amosun.’’

The message was signed by ‘’concerned teachers’’.

Societynow.ng gathered that Akinlade’s handlers are currently hard at work trying to undo the harm of the raging campaign on his chances at the poll.
