Meet Tinubu’s Troubleshooter In Lagos Politics Many Do Not Pay Attention

Away from popular associates, sources say President Bola Tinubu has a troubleshooter for special political situations in Lagos State.

He is the Secretary of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC), the highest decision-making body of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State—Mutiu Are.

“He is the mediator-in-chief in political disputes that the President wants quietly handled. And he has been playing the role for some time,” sources say.

Insiders insist that the 65-year-old is much closer to the President than many imagine.

“He has direct access to the President—more access than many supposed close allies and lieutenants of President Tinubu,” insiders assert.

Further findings revealed that Are’s reach with President Tinubu is such that even top-level players in the state rely on him to verify and pass across opinions and issues.

Appointed by Tinubu as a member of the Northeast Development Commission in July 2023, Are also served as the Director of the Contact and Mobilisation Committee for the campaign that brought the President to power.
