It is a rule of the thumb in politics, all aides and loyalists follow the body language of the principal.

Those who deviate are branded are usually branded “disloyal” and face the repercussion sooner or later.

In Ogun State, the body language of Governor Abiodun is that he is at odds with former Governor Gbenga Daniel.

Daniel is the Senatorial candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for Ogun East for the 2023 election while second-term-seeking Governor Abiodun is the gubernatorial candidate of the same political party.

But both candidates are engulfed in a cold war that has resulted in snubbing each other’s campaigns.

SocietyNow.Ng gathered that as expected stakeholders on the Governor’s team are giving Daniel are distancing themselves from Daniel but not council Chairman Wale Adedayo.

The chairman of Ijebu East Local Government – appointed by Governor Abiodun -has refused to be a part of the bandwagon.

“Adedayo is risking a possible backlash for the higher good” SocietyNow.Ng learned.

Adedayo

Information at hand revealed that Adedayo, a political communication consultant and former Assistant Editor of Punch Newspaper, is actively campaigning for both Gbenga Daniel and Dapo Abiodun.

“He is at the forefront of both Daniel and Abiodun’s campaigns in his local government” SocietyNow.Ng learned.

Inside information revealed that behind Adedayo’s strategy is a passionate move to seal the crack between Abiodun and Daniel that the opposition and their sponsors are trying to exploit.

Immediate past Governor Ibikunle Amosun, a member of the APC, is sponsoring a gubernatorial candidate on the bill of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) against Abiodun’s re-election bid.

Amosun is leveraging the cold war to seal a pact with Daniel to support ADC candidate Biyi Otegbeye as the next Governor of Ogun State.

One of Amosun’s major bargaining chips is to also support Daniel to become Senator in the face of animosity from Governor Abiodun who controls the APC structure in Ogun state.

Adedayo’s objective is to nullify Amosun’s leverage by keeping the APC united in Ogun East and passionately backing all candidates, most visibly Daniel.

“Adedayo is a former Director of Organisation of a political party (PDP) and Chief Press Secretary to a Governor (Daniel) he has enough experience to know in politics you don’t leave anything to change and that is what he is doing by refusing to adopt the body language of Governor Abiodun and doing everything possible to ensure that former Governor stays committed to APC beyond his senatorial election” SocietyNow.ng gathered.

Insiders revealed that added to the mix is Adedayo’s firm commitment that there is no way that the Daniel and Abiodun feud won’t affect the votes for APC Presidential candidate Asiwaju Tinubu if left to fester.

“so, Adedayo’s position is, APC maintains a united house going into the 2023 election irrespective of the grievances at stake and he is risking all to stay at the forefront of this move. He is risking all because his position of identifying with Daniel is not in tune with the body language of Governor Abiodun who controls the structure that determines who becomes what in Ogun APC” SocietyNow.Ng learned.
