Leader of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has called on Nigerians and the country’s leadership to reflect deeply on the lessons of 2025 and chart a bolder, more purposeful course for the nation as 2026 approaches, stressing that the period demands renewed unity and resolve.

In a Christmas and Boxing Day message to Christians across the country, Kwankwaso extended warm felicitations to Nigerian Christians, describing the season as a time for reflection, hope and collective recommitment to national progress.

The popular politician noted that while the year had been difficult, it also underscored the resilience of the Nigerian spirit.

“This year has presented significant challenges to our national unity and collective resolve as a people,” he said, adding that “it has also tested — and strengthened — our determination to build a happy, prosperous, and resilient nation.”

Kwankwaso observed that the outgoing year posed serious tests to Nigeria’s unity and stability, but maintained that such trials should serve as lessons for more courageous and inclusive leadership in the coming year.

Reflecting on developments within the NNPP, the former Kano State governor described the recently concluded party congresses as a major milestone.

The opposition leader said the exercises ushered in fresh leadership while equipping the party with renewed ideas and focus needed to strengthen its role as a viable opposition platform.

On a personal note, he expressed deep gratitude to party members across the country for their loyalty and unwavering commitment to the NNPP’s shared vision of progress, noting that their dedication continues to energise the party’s drive for national renewal.

As Nigeria approaches 2026, Kwankwaso urged political leaders to draw valuable lessons from the past year and bring fresh ideas and renewed vigour to governance, particularly in tackling insecurity.

He called for stronger and more decisive support for the nation’s armed forces, expressing confidence in their capacity to overcome security challenges confronting the country.

“I urge our leaders to bring fresh ideas and renewed vigour to support our gallant troops in decisively overcoming every form of insecurity plaguing our nation,” he said, adding that he remained fully confident in their ability to succeed.

Kwankwaso also expressed optimism about Nigeria’s economic future, praying that the new year would usher in a season of sustainable economic growth and widespread prosperity.

“Our great nation truly deserves a stronger, more vibrant economy,” he said, while wishing Nigerians a peaceful festive season and a more hopeful year ahead.

He concluded by calling on citizens to remain united and resilient, emphasising that collective effort and shared responsibility remain essential to building a better Nigeria for all.
