Lagos To Take Over Prosecution Of Seun Kuti
for the assault of a policeman.
Emerging details have it that the Lagos state government looks set to take over the prosecution of Afrobeat singer Seun Kuti for the assault of a policeman.
“Two things are actually at play here, it is a state case and the police has vested interest that may not allow for clinical prosecution” according to those in the know.
The Afrobear singer has been granted a suspended bail that keeps him in custody for 48 hours at first appearance in court today.
The Nigeria Police Force pushed for the court to allow the singer to be kept in police custody for 21days – to enable more investigation into the assault case – but was denied.
The information available revealed that Lagos state is awaiting the advice of the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) on the specific steps to take.
