Lagos, Imo to Host Funeral Events for Frank Okamigbo’s Mum Princess Adaeze

The families of the Imo-Oti Ozuomba Royal Dynasty of Okorobi-Ndiawa and the Okamigbo–Ozigbo lineage of Okereke, Arondizuogu, have announced the funeral arrangements for Princess (Mrs) Ezinne Adaeze Dorothy Okamigbo, who passed on peacefully after a life the family described as purposeful and impactful.
In a statement signed by her son, Franklin Emenike Okamigbo-Ozigbo—popularly known as Frank Papas, the nightlife entrepreneur nicknamed the “King of Night Club” after his famed Club Papas—the family said funeral events will be held in Lagos and Imo State to honour the revered matriarch, fondly called Asa Black, also known as Onye Uwa Oma.
According to the announcement, a Service of Songs will take place in Lagos on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at the Welcome Center Lanes along International Airport Road, Ajao Estate.
The event is expected to draw family members, friends, associates and well-wishers who knew the late princess for her strength, wisdom and warmth.
The burial rites will continue in Arondizuogu, Ideato North Local Government Area of Imo State. A wake-keep has been scheduled for Thursday, April 16, 2026, at her residence, Mazi Ben Okamigbo-Ozigbo’s compound in Ndiokereke.
On Friday, April 17, activities will begin with a brief lying-in-state at her father’s palace, the palace of HRH Eze Imo, Obi Izuogu, Okorobi Ndiawa, followed by a ceremonial procession through Mazi Ruben Okafor (Anochiam)’s compound at Afo Ndiawa.
The funeral motorcade will thereafter proceed to her home in Ndiokereke.
A funeral service will be held at St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, Ndiokereke, Arondizuogu, at 11:30 a.m., after which she will be laid to rest at her residence. An outing service has also been fixed for Sunday, April 19, 2026, at the same church.
The family expressed gratitude to God for what they described as a glorious life and said Princess Adaeze Okamigbo would be remembered for the enduring legacy she leaves behind, noting that her memories will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched.
