MTN Nigeria’s strategic decision to invest over ₦32.23 billion through its Foundation is a calculated move to reinforce its status as a responsible corporate citizen while driving its “Shared Value” objective across Nigeria.

This monumental social investment is deployed across youth empowerment, digital inclusion, and national development, ensuring the company’s growth is inextricably linked to the nation’s progress.

The company’s philosophy, as articulated by Tobe Okigbo, Chief Corporate Services & Sustainability Officer, is clear: “We are driving digital and financial inclusion, supporting our communities and national priorities as captured in the core pillars of our Ambition Beyond 2025”.

The Foundation’s initiatives directly target critical national gaps, from supporting the 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) Programme to awarding STEM scholarships.

The investment has translated into real-world impact. Sofiya Mustapha, a visually impaired scholarship recipient, stated: “I learnt English through the MTN scholarship, learnt data programming, and attended programming courses”. This is the essence of the Foundation’s goal: creating opportunities where they are most needed.

Integrated National Support: Beyond the Foundation, MTN’s support for national priorities is integrated into its business model.

This includes the massive N757.4 billion Capex deployment to improve connectivity and the ongoing rehabilitation of the 110-kilometre Enugu-Onitsha Expressway under the RITC scheme.

The sustainability of this investment is guaranteed by the company’s strong financial health, which saw it reverse its loss and post a N750.2 billion PAT.

Furthermore, the company’s massive contribution of over ₦6.9 Trillion in taxes provides the broader fiscal environment necessary for national stability.
