It appears there was a slim chance that Madam Omofemiwa Ramat Ibrahim, the 78-year-old mother of billionaire Jimoh Ibrahim could have been saved in the fatal inferno that claimed her life societynow.ng gathered.

Madam Ibrahim died in a fire incident at her son’s Victoria Garden City (VGC) Lekki, Lagos residence in the early hours of Saturday, January 19, 2019.

According to information available, the fire occurred at around 1am.

Unconfirmed sources claimed the fire was caused by a candle lit by the deceased for prayer but official attribute the development power surge.

According to information monitored on national newspaper The nation and credited to Lagos State Fire Service Director Rasaki Musibau, ‘’ the fire service was alerted at 02.20am and its Lekki Phase 1 station arrived at the scene around 02.27am. According to him, the fire service met the VGC fire station on ground, which doesn’t have enough equipment to put the fire. The firefighters later quenched the fire and left around 4am.

‘’Police Spokesman Chike Oti, a Chief Superintendent (CSP) confirmed the incident.

“If we have been alerted earlier, we would have reduced the damaging effects,” he said. The commodity, he said, was handed over to LASEMA.’’

The report by The Nation disclosed that Madam Ibrahim was pronounced dead at the scene after firefighters arrived the scene. Her remains were said to have been deposited at the morgue.
