Some governors in south west are rooting for Otunba Iyiola Omisore to become a minister in the cabinet of President Muhammadu Buhari, information reaching societynow.ng has showed.

And the governors who are said to be actively involved in the move to make Ife born politician a minister in the soon to be constituted cabinet of the president, according to checks, are Kayode Fayemi, Rotimi Akeredolu and Gboyega Oyetola of Ekiti, Ondo and Osun States respectively.

Iyiola Omisore – formerly a member of Peoples Democratic Party – is an ex-senator and former deputy governor of Osun State.

They are currently lobbying those that matter and have the ears of Mr President on his behalf, an insider maintains.

“You he (Omisore) is very close to Kayode Fayemi and Akeredolu… He also has a very good relationship with Gov Oyetola now…. You know he did the magic for them during the gubernatorial election rerun and the governor really appreciates his contribution”, a source in the know divulged.

Omisore was the candidate of Social Democratic Party SDP in the last governorship election in Osun State.

He came third at the pool.

And the quest by the two major parties -All Progressives Congress and Peoples Democratic Party – in the election to win at all cost when the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) declared the election inconclusive and called for a rerun in a number of polling units transformed Omisore a beautiful bride.

Governor Fayemi was part of the the ruling APC team that visited to talk Omisore into working for incumbent Gov Oyetola during the rerun exercise.

His contribution did it for APC as its Candidate Gboyega Oyetola eventually emerged winner.

There were talks the senatorial ticket for Ife-Ijesha Senatorial district among other things were promised him before he agreed to work for them.

In what many tagged a betrayal of sort the ticket was handed to Ajibola Famurewa one of former governor Aregbesola loyalists.

But feelers reaching societynow.ng from those who are familiar with the kind of machination being put in place by the trio of the governors backing him this time show Omisore looks good to clinch the ministerial slot.
