Inside Gbenga Daniel Fresh Plan To Stop Amosun From Deciding Next Ogun Gov

Ex-governor Gbenga Daniels has a grand plan.

And the objective is to stop incumbent Ibikunle Amosun from determining the next governor of Ogun state.

Amosun is Daniel’s successor.

The incumbent came to power on the platform of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) which teamed up with other political parties to form the ruling All Progressives Congress.

After the legally allowed two-term Amosun is seeking to install a candidate of his choice as next governor.

Daniel who is a chieftain of main opposition party People’s Democratic Party appears to have found the formula to stop Amosun.

The former governor who suffered huge political vilification in the hands of his successor has mandated that his party reach out to gubernatorial aspirants in the state, especially former PDP members in other political parties.

“His objective is simple. Daniels wants everybody to poll resources to defeat Amosun as well as have firm commitments on how to share the spoils after securing office” a source disclosed.

The former governor is said to be working on the “grand alliance” based on the operating principle that ‘except all diverse interests in the opposition come together, Amosun’s hold on Ogun politics can’t be unclasped and the incumbent’s move to install a successor unstoppable”.

Insiders disclosed the move to bring together all opposition against Amosun also targets popular aspirant Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola.

Though the in-office Lagos Senator (popularly known as Yayi) is a member of the same political party as Amosun, he is treated as a major opposition and the outgoing governor is said to have publicly vowed to ensure Yayi doesn’t succeed him.

Insiders disclosed Daniel is making the move in establishing a grand alliance against Amosun as an attempt in the general interest of the state, rather than a deft political maneuver.
