Inside information has revealed why Gbenga Daniel keeps snubbing some of the directives from Governor Dapo Abiodun.

The information at hand revealed that though Abiodun as Governor is officially the leader of their party in Ogun state, Daniel is widely seen as a more influential and better-rated politician.
And the governor is seen as trying to not only posture himself as more influential, and in control but also “cage” the former governor by the latter and his loyalists, hence the continuing snubbing of “directives” and “advisory from the former SocietyNow.Ng learned.
Daniel, a former Governor of Ogun State – May 29, 2003, to May 29, 2011 – and Abiodun are members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Abiodun dubbed “a child of fate” rode to power in 2019 on borrowed political structures (including that of Daniel) in a groundswell coalition against attempts by immediate past Governor Ibikunle Amosun – May 29, 2011, to May 29, 2019 – to install a preferred successor.
The coalition crumbled in the face of alleged actions and inactions of Abiodun after he was sworn in as he grapples with administering the state and building a statewide political base of his own.
Daniel’s decision to contest for the Ogun East senatorial seat is seen as an attempt to make himself and his followers more relevant in the politics of Ogun state. Abiodun reportedly tried to block the move with an “advisory” that he has another person in mind for the position as the candidate of the APC but Daniel snubbed the advisory and shrugged off pressures from third parties acting on behalf of the governor. And continues to snub directives and related decisions by Abiodun that conflicts with his political interest, including flagging off his senatorial campaign on Sunday, October 2, 2022, SocietyNow.Ng gathered.

Further digs revealed that it has also not helped the situation that Daniel based on a personal relationship with Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, clout and years of social and political investments has a stronger foothold in the presidential candidate’s campaign.
